Making It All Ours

Ta-Da! Okay, I just couldn't wait to show you the kitchen totally finished, but we have come a loooong way since early September. There is still painting to be done, outlet covers to be purchased and placed, door facings, base board and other bits of trim to be selected, stained, and placed, and Cindy's decorative touches to adorn this needed renovation. But we are far enough along for this to be a fully functioning kitchen.
The last of the containers were emptied on Monday night...Yes, I was careful to not over do it this time!
I shed a few tears as I placed Grandma Barger's Old Country Roses setting in its new home. This cabinet set was designed just for them.
This little Christmas tree was a purchase from Le Jardin Tea Room. I knew it would highlight the quartz counter tops and tile back splash.
A feature that I loved with this cabinet company was the spice drawers. We have one on each side of the range. This one holds all of our baking spices and decorating items. Tori loves it! (And the kids both love the fact that they each have their own little pull-out shelf in another cabinet to hold their favorite snacks.)
We had to hide a pipe. (It would have been way too much trouble and money to move it.) So our Lowe's kitchen designer added an appliance garage. It IS AWESOME!
The closed door view. By the way, our Lowe's guy was awesome, too. He really knew his stuff and was always on top of things.
What can I say...Chris and I love having ceiling fans. This one doesn't put out much light, but the new can lights take care of the necessary lighting issues. The medallion...Well, I was quite proud of my painting job. The darker color will also be the wall color.
The refrigerator rocks and so does all the extra pantry cabinets!
Love those pull-outs, too
The kitchen hasn't been the only thing going on in construction news at the Whaley household.
Check back soon to see what this is all about...

Making it all ours...The reason for this title is that I really feel that now this house is all about us. It is so much different than when we first moved in in July of 1996. Maybe it's time for a tour of the whole thing, especially since Christmas is around the corner. We will see...

It's fabulous! How wonderful that you have special cabinets for your grandmother's dishes. You must be feeling a huge sense of relief. Bring on the rest of the tour!!

Your new kitchen looks wonderful!! You must be so happy! I've been shopping for new stoves...have you gotten to use yours yet? And, if so, how do you like it?? By the way, your new refrigerator is the crown jewel of the kitchen!

Love it, Cindy! You must feel so relieved! The only kitchen remodel I've ever been through was when I was about 6 or 7 years old, and I can remember washing dishes in the bathtub and seeing boxes of cereal on a shelf over our TV in the living room. Oh, how my mom hated that project! But she loved it when it was finally done, and I know you will, too. Congratulations!

Yep...very nice. Your kitchen has gone all 21st century. Yay! It looks great. Someday, maybe mine will get there. I'm all over today's cool functionality in cabinets. I'm a big fan of Lowe's too. So glad it's all coming together.
I'm going to guess that cabinet has something to do with your craft room.
