Festival on the Fourth

Not the best picture...But it was hard to get them to be still when we arrived at Volunteer Landing. They were ready to eat and then get wet!
Having a picnic supper by the Tennessee River
The girls had a ball feeding the ducks left-over breadWaterfall fun
"Baby, you're a firework...
"...let your colors burst!"
JJ being a ham and a half...

I am ashamed to say this, but this was Tori's first view of a professional fireworks display. She loved it.
The Whaley and Jones clans had a great 4th afternoon (after the huge storm that rolled through earlier in the day). It ended up being a perfect evening with lower humidity and slight breeze. We started our outing at Volunteer Landing with a picnic supper, and the kids really enjoyed the fountains and waterfall there. (No crowds!) Then, we headed to World's Fair Park for the Festival on the Fourth. (Crowds!) There, the kids had a go at that fountain, ate all kinds of snacks, and enjoyed the fireworks display as the Knoxville Symphony played patriotic tunes. We all had such a great time, so we are going to try to make this an annual event or at least attempt it next year.

It's so great to be an American!!! Sounds like everyone had a great weekend...

I absolutely love how America celebrates the 4th of July. This is such a heartwarming post. Those photos are beautiful. Brings back many memories of the T. River. We are experiencing a little "heat wave"right now, that waterfall looks , so inviting!

It is so hot and muggy here. Wish I could go stand in that great waterfall. Looks like a fun 4th of July! :)

I really like those water photos and the posing. Ha!
Don't be ashamed. R didn't see her first big fireworks show until the summer of her 4th year too.
OK...I'm on to the rest of the posts...there is a lot to catch up on.
